Legendary developer Shigeru Miyamoto himself wrote a Facebook post Sept. 17 to announce that Star Fox Zero would not ship this year.

Even though the goal had long been for a holiday season launch of the anthropomorphic fighter pilot game, more work is needed Miyamoto said.

We have been developing Star Fox Zero for Wii U with the aim of releasing it this year. Although we felt that the development had been progressing well, we now believe that we will need a little more time to work on areas such as the unprecedented discovery that we want players to experience in the game by using two screens, and further polishing the level designs and perfecting the tone of the cut scenes. While we have already reached the stage where it would be technically possible to release the title in time for the year-end holiday season, we want to polish the game a bit more so that players will be able to more smoothly grasp the new style of play that we are proposing.

To the people looking forward to the launch of the game this holiday season, I am very sorry.



Star Fox Zero was playable at E3 and it received widely mixed reactions. Some praised the control scheme, which employs the use of the Wii U game pad to steer the ships and some found the gameplay distracting and awkward.

Miyamoto said they hope to see the game released in the first quarter of 2016. This leaves Yoshi's Wooly World (in America) and Xenoblade Chronicles X as the only first part Wii U games to see a release through the rest of this year.

Sorry siegers, looks like you'll have to wait a little longer to get your Tom Clancy going.

Ubisoft announced Aug. 18 that the much-anticipated tactical shooter Rainbow Six Siege won't be released on the originally announced Oct. 13 release date.

Instead, the game will ship Dec. 1.

Eurogamer has the statement from Ubisoft:

"This wasn't an easy decision, but based on the feedback we've received, and based on our own internal tests, we felt there are adjustments and improvements we can make, including improving the co-op experience across all game modes, weapon and gadget balancing, as well as menu and interface navigation," Ubisoft said.

"We're taking a little more time to make these changes, and we think it's the right call."

Meanwhile, the closed beta will still start on 24th September 2015 as planned. "The additional time will allow us to further test things like infrastructure and matchmaking," Ubisoft said. "That extra testing and added polish will make for a higher-quality experience at launch."

The Dead Island 2 team announced a delay to 2016 on Twitter today.  The game was originally slated for release this spring.  The full announcement is as follows:

We have always set ourselves a big goal for Dead Island 2: to create the sequel that takes Dead Island to the next level. A game that takes what our fans tell us they love about Dead Island – multiple different characters to play with, co-op, and turning a paradise setting into a zombie slaughter melee – and a game that adds a ton more content and combat options on top of that.

And we wanted to have all of that that done for release in Spring 2015.

We have been looking at the game long and hard, and we have decided we didn’t reach that goal we set out to achieve quite yet. This is why we have decided to delay Dead Island 2 to 2016.

Right now we are focusing purely on development, and we will have more info to share at a later stage.

We know that our fans will be disappointed by this news, but by giving Dead Island 2 more time we are confident that everyone will get a better game to play as a result.-Team Dead Island 2

In a move that should surprise no one, Nintendo has announced a delay for the new Legend of Zelda title for Wii U.  The game was originally expected to be released some time this year, but the team behind it is no longer focusing on meeting that deadline in order to have the freedom to produce a better game.  Here's hoping it's worth the wait.

The Witcher 3 has been delayed by 12 weeks, moving its release date to May 19, 2015.

CD Projekt Red released an open letter explaining the situation:

Dear Gamers,

Ever since we started working on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, we knew it would be an ambitious game. We wanted, and still aim, to give you an incredible experience, an epic adventure in a vast, completely open fantasy universe.

The sheer size and complexity of The Witcher, key features of the title, have had a decisive impact on production. Now, nearing the end of our work, we see many details that need to be corrected. When we release the most important game in our studio's history, we must be absolutely sure that we did everything we could to limit any bugs to a level that will allow you to enjoy the game thoroughly.

With this in mind, we took another look at current workloads and what they mean for the team. Even though everyone is working at full speed, we concluded that we need another 12 weeks, so we are shifting the release date of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt to May 19th, 2015.

We owe you an apology. We set the release date too hastily. It's a hard lesson, one to take to heart for the future. We know what we want to do to make Wild Hunt one of the best RPGs you will ever play. And we continue to work hard to achieve just that. So, we apologize and ask for your trust.

Thank you for the all support you show us on a daily basis. We truly do appreciate it. It has fueled us in our passion since the start and will continue to do so.

The game was originally to be released on February 6th, but is getting a month and a half delay to address some of the feedback the development team received from alpha testers, according to a post on the PlayStation Blog.

From the announcement:

Visceral Games team learned a lot from [beta] players about what they wanted in the game. We've been poring over the data and feedback, and have already been putting a lot of it right into the game and sharing it directly with you.

This feedback also spurred us to start thinking about other possibilities and ways we could push Hardline innovation further and make the game even better. The more we thought about these ideas, the more we knew we had to get them into the game you will all be playing. However, there was only one problem. We would need more time. Time that we didn't have if we decided to move forward with launching in just a couple of months.

We decided that the right thing to do was to take more time to ensure Hardline is the best, most innovative Battlefield experience we can give to you, our fans.

The delay will allow them to improve multiplayer, add to the single player story, and stabilize the game.

We continue to work on the console versions of ESO, and game development has been progressing steadily, but we are still working to solve a series of unique problems specific to those platforms. Integrating our systems with each console manufacturer's networks—which are both different from the PC/Mac system as well as different from each other—has been a challenging process. It has become clear that our planned June release of the console versions isn't going to be possible. Though we have made great progress, we have concluded that we'll need about six months to ensure we deliver the experience our fans expect and deserve.
