For the sake of full disclosure I'm still exploring the original map from Fallout 4, and now Bethesda hits us with this galvanizing bit of news..a landmass in the Far Harbor DLC is slated to be bigger than Oblivion's biggest map (even though that game came out ages ago). Let the jaws hit the floor.

The biggest catch, or qualm rather, that I hold here is the fact Far Harbor will have less 'playable content' than Shivering Isles. Ah well, if anything we'll enjoy some better developed faction quests, more challenging creatures and dastardly dungeons and higher-level armor and weapons sets.

And the big 'ol bold news for Fallout 4 don't stop there, as I'm sure you know, survival mode hit PCs today alongside a new patch. Some of the notable takeaways with the new survival mode :

-Quicksaving and "almost" all autosaves are disabled; you will instead need to find a bed and sleep for at least an hour to save the game.

-Fast travel is disabled.

-You now deal more damage, but you also take more damage. Players can also further increase their damage with the new "Adrenaline" perk, Bethesda explained. Every five kills increases your Adrenaline rank, adding 5 percent each time for up to 50 percent damage at the max rank of 10.

-Combat is now "more strategic," as you will need to make use of block/parry to stay alive.

-Threats (outside of those added by a Recon scope) will not display on your compass; additionally, the distance at which areas of interest will show up has been "significantly shorted."

-You will also need to take care of yourself, staying hydrated, fed, and rested. Don't eat, drink, or sleep for a while and your health will deteriorate.

-Fatigue will affect your Action Points, meaning the more Fatigue you have, the less Action Points you'll have available for sprinting and using V.A.T.S.

Destiny's new microtransactions will go to fund free DLC

This might possibly be the best of both worlds? Maybe?

Yesterday, Kotaku reported on rumors they heard about microtransaction coming to the popular social shooter Destiny. They also talked about Bungie using the money gained through those transactions to fund DLC, allowing the developer to give it away for free.

This is all part of a new plan that could start as early as this month, according to two people familiar with Destiny's development. Rather than sell big expansion packs like they did last year, Bungie is planning on giving out quests and missions for free, sources say. This will likely involve big drops every few months until the fall of 2016 but could also include trickles of smaller stuff throughout the year.

That means the game's next paid expansion will be Destiny 2 in the fall of 2016, as has been known for a while now. That'll be $60.

And then Oct. 6, Bungie confirmed it:

This coming Tuesday, October 13th, Tess Everis will return to The Tower with a new look, a new storefront, and some new items to sell, courtesy of Eververse Trading Company. Initially, Tess will offer eighteen brand new emotes. Like the trio of emotes offered via The Taken King Collector's Edition, these emotes are completely optional, and won't impact the action game in any way.

To acquire these items, you'll first need to pick up some "Silver," a new in-game currency that will be available for purchase through the store associated with your console. Images and descriptions for each available emote, along with pricing information for Silver will be made available Tuesday, October 13th, alongside the launch of the in-game storefront right here on Bungie.net as soon as the content is live.

So if you want to customize your guardian for a small price, you can!

If you want free DLC, you get that too!

If you don't want either, you don't have to worry about it at all!

See, best of both worlds.

Knowing that we are salivating for more Fallout 4 news in lieu of it's Nov. 1 release, developer Bethesda dropped some more information about what comes after that fateful launch on their company blog.

It's not really any big surprise that there will be DLC or that they will offer a season pass, but it's still neat to know.

We've always done a lot of DLC for our games. We love making them and you always ask us for more. To reward our most loyal fans, this time we'll be offering a Season Pass that will get you all of the Fallout 4 DLC we ever do for just $30. Since we're still hard at work on the game, we don't know what the actual DLC will be yet, but it will start coming early next year. Based on what we did for Oblivion, Fallout 3, and Skyrim, we know that it will be worth at least $40, and if we do more, you'll get it all with the Season Pass.

They also discussed how the original game would continue to evolve.

We'll be doing regular free updates to the game, and like Skyrim, these will come with not just fixes, but new features. For Skyrim we added things like mounted combat, legendary mode, kill cams, visual enhancements and more. We'll work with all of you to figure out what new things you'd love to see added to Fallout 4, whether they are small tweaks or new features.

A new free update to The Sims 4 added two new career paths in both the business and sports fields. It also added new holiday items pictured above, and the classic cheat "move objects."  This cheat allows you to combine two items into a single one, which lets you do things like "combine a bed and curtains to create a canopy bed."  Learn more about the update here.

Good guy Nintendo isn't working on any paid DLC for Super Smash Bros. because they don't want people to feel shorted. In an interview with Videogamer, Sakurai said, "I understand that DLC could add a lot to the appeal of Smash Bros., and I appreciate that a major part of the excitement for these games come from which characters will appear in the roster, so I think fans could really enjoy DLC that could keep this excitement going. However, I think there might be criticism that we are cutting up content to sell characters one by one, or that we are adding things later that should have been there from the start."

Creating a character is a lot of work and costs a lot of money, says Sakurai, and he doesn't know that adding more DLC characters would be worth it. Unfortunately, that also means he thinks adding characters like Reggie and Iwata isn't a good idea. When asked about it, he said, "I don't think the inclusion of these characters would be very interesting to a wide audience. For the amount of effort involved, I would actually prefer to add another roster character. As it takes a lot of work to add a character to the game, it's not a decision that can be taken lightly."

For now at least, it looks like Mewtwo is the only DLC character we can look forward to.
