After trying to keep Smash Bros Melee out of the tournament last year, Nintendo has apparently changed its mind about the competitive fighting game community and sponsored this month's EVO tournament, likely in a move to generate hype about the upcoming Smash for Wii U.

The guy is pretty much the Bob Ross of gadget-casting. By simply using a Raspberry Pi Zero, a USB hub and clay, Doris (lyberty5) created a SNES that could go head to head with Nintendo's upcoming mini-NES on cuteness alone.

Have you longed to play hit Nintendo 3DS games like Monster Hunter 4 and the handheld remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, but don't like 3D and don't have $120 to spare?

Well, Nintendo heard your cries Aug. 20, as they announced a price drop for the 2DS.

Polygon has the story:

The Nintendo 2DS price drops from $129.99 to $99.99 on Aug. 30, the company announced this morning.

The 2DS will still come packed with the digital version of Mario Kart 7, Nintendo confirmed.

The price drop lands as Nintendo prepares to launch Little Battlers eXperience Aug. 21 for the 2DS and Nintendo 3DS. In the game, players build, customize and battle robots made from more than 4,000 parts.

At the time of its launch in October 2013, many thought the device was more for young children because of the 3D removal and the sturdier, slab-like build. But everyone can take advantage of the hundreds of games that you can now play at a lower price.

Yes, behold the latest alleged NX controller leak pics. They're definitely more of a sell than the last liberated, albeit ugly one. According to redditor perkele37, the one who posted these shots:

  • Only the upper 'nubs' of the sticks move. The bottom part is static (kind of like the circle pad, but it moves along the bottom 'sphere.'
  • The rollers on the top feel and look pretty much identical to a mouse scroll-wheel. Though I do don't believe this will be the final design.
  • Haptic feedback is feels like Apples 'taptic' engine. Not like regular rumble.
  • 3.5mm headphone jack on the bottom.

Even after an adjustment to their numbers earlier this year projected the company would see a ¥35 billion loss for 2013, Nintendo's financial statement puts it at an annual operating loss of ¥46.4 billion ($457 million US) and a net loss of ¥23.2 billion ($22.8 million). Only 2.7 million Wii Us were sold in the last year, bringing the lifetime total to 6.17 million (the PlayStation 4 has already sold 7 million consoles since November). The 3DS has brought in a total of 43.3 million sales (2.2 million 2DS), which falls below projections but remains healthier than the Wii U. Iwata claims there will be no short-term fallout from this result.
