Marcy Long's built herself quite the reputation as the Commonwealth's most hated character. Fallout fans just can't stand the chick, AND she was marked as an essential character, which made her impossible to kill in the game. This dude straight up fires her out of a junk mortar:

Well the latest patch to hit Fallout 4 changes all that. The list of fixes in the update includes actual bugs, but also this little weird tidbit:
Jun and Marcy Long are no longer essential after completing “Sanctuary”
My running theory here...Bethesda was all about fixing the players' collective disgust toward Marcy Long. The hate was too real. People took it as far as creating mods in Fallout 4, where you could manage to kill Marcy Long.
Anyways, the reactions so far seem to be pretty dang positive:
All the harpoons. New monsters. Stacks on stacks of new armor. And of course, predictably challenging choices. Bethesda's biggest DLC yet promises to bring a little bit of everything to the party, and my body couldn't be more ready. This guy's pretty amped too, I guess.
Some of the key things pointed out in their new Far Harbor exploration video that stuck out to me while watching and generally trying to keep my sh*t together in maddening anticipation:
-Bethesda claims this is the biggest landmass they’ve created yet for a DLC. The island also gathers some cues from the Glowing Sea (so a lot of radiation exposure’s about to go down..). -- Never forget the 'Glowing Sea of Nope'!
-Central conflict takes place between the townspeople of Far Harbor, Children of Atom, and the Synths.
-Bethesda’s trying to build upon the ‘New England vibe’ in that of Fallout 4, which explains the Maine setting and characters that get by on fishing.
-Some of those newly mentioned weapons include fish hooks, harpoon guns, and hunting rifles, along with a new combat armor which Bethesda’s openly claimed is the ‘best armor out there’ excluding Power Armor (of course…).
-There’s a new batch of demented creatures based off anglers, Mirelurks, and salamanders.
-The DLC really aims to pick apart what unites the Children of Atom.
-Endings vary based on your ultimate decision in faction(s).
-Fog plays a huge role in this DLC. Monsters use it as an attack aid, and the people of Far Harbor must continually keep it at bay to ensure their livelihood.
-Lastly, the return of settlements…your relations with factions serves to dictate which lands you can lay claim to.
In closing here, lead designer William Shen said the following on what Bethesda’s aiming for with the DLC, and its factions:
Everyone has a sympathetic side, and a side that’s not-so-sympathetic, and you have to decide where you’re going to land. We wanted to include a ton of different options. Is it possible to go through with no one dying? Can you just decide to destroy everyone?
Can you bring certain people to justice and drag out certain truths? Is it worth exposing this person if it means all these other people are going to be hurt? We give you a lot of tools and information that affects all groups, and then you have the ability to decide what you’re going to do with it.”
Yes indeed, it turns out the latest addition in what's quickly becoming an irritable string of incessant Fallout 4 add-ons allows players to capture, then pit monsters up against one another in a gladiatorial arena.
That's pretty much all there is to get amped about here though; and if we're being entirely honest, this should've been included as part of the original game! Kind of a dickish move on Beth's part to require us to download another DLC to build walls and roofs freed from the perils of having holes in 'em.
Plus, there's the whole Preston Garvey surviving bit...
