These Animal Themed Movie Posters Parody the Top Movies of 2015

Disney created these posters to promote their new animated movie 'Zootopia'. The movie is set in a world where animals think they're people, people don't exist and apparently animal based puns are just a part of the language. These delightfully punny movie posters will remind you of some of this year's most popular films.

In case you've forgotten, Warner Bros has been trying to make a Westernized, live-action version of the 1988 anime Akira for years.  Widely regarded as one of the most groundbreaking and well-loved animes of all time, most fans don't see the need for an American Akira, especially not with big Hollywood names like Chris Pine, James Franco, Andrew Garfield, Kristen Stewart, and Robert Pattinson rumored to be attached to the project.  Things have been pretty quiet on the Akira front for a while, but a new name has cropped up, and one that isn't so bad.

Netflix's Daredevil season 2 showrunner Marco Ramirez has apparently been hired to write a screenplay for the film.  In addition to the new Daredevil series, Ramirez has also written for Orange is the New Black and Sons of Anarchy.  There's no questioning his talent; Ramirez can certainly pen a good script, but the question remains of whether or not this film should even be made.

Does Ramirez's involvement affect how you feel about an American Akira?  Would you watch it?

If you haven't already heard, I've got some groan-inducing news for you: there's going to be an American adaptation of Death Note, courtesy of Warner Bros.

Adam Wingard, director of The Guest, has signed on alongside writer Jeremy Slater, who penned The Lazarus Effect and the Fantastic Four reboot due out later this year.  Based on their previous work, it seems like the film is in fairly capable hands, but there are just some adaptations that don't need to be made.  If you're unfamiliar, check out trailers for The Guest and The Lazarus Effect below.

Dwayne Johnson has announced his role as the male lead in Disney's upcoming Polynesian mythology inspired film, Moana. His role has not been officially announced, but he will likely play the god Maui, travel companion and guide of Disney's first Polynesian princess, Moana. Not only is he acting in the movie, but he's singing too. Wondering if he's got the pipes? Yeah, he totally does:

There are already three new LEGO movies coming out in the next few years, and we're about the get a fourth.

Jason Segel is to write and direct Billion Brick Race alongside Iron Man 3 writer Drew Pearce.  Segel helped write the Muppets film that he starred in in 2011, so his foray into the world of LEGO isn't terribly out of character.  Billion Brick Race will follow Ninjago in 2016, The Lego Batman Movie in 2017 and The Lego Movie 2 in 2018, but no release date has been set.

Sony's just picked up a bunch of domains related to Attack on Titan, spreading rumors that they're making a movie out of the massively popular anime:

  • attackonthetitan-movie.com
  • attackonthetitan-movie.net
  • attackonthetitan.com
  • attackonthetitan.net
  • attackonthetitanmovie.com
  • attackonthetitanmovie.net
  • attackonthetitanthemovie.com
  • attackonthetitanthemovie.net

Currently, these domains redirect to the Sony Pictures website, and it seems entirely likely that Sony is poised to start working on an American adaptation of Attack on Titan, or at least starting talks to that end.  There are two Japanese Attack on Titan films currently in the works (they'll be out later this year), but in all likelihood they won't make it to the US and we'll get saddled with a questionable Westernized adaptation (lookin' at you, Ghost in the Shell).
