The latest issue of Entertainment Weekly published three new production stills from Marvel's dark horse summer blockbuster, Guardians of the Galaxy (check out those space pajamas). Accompanying these stills, director James Gunn revealed a couple of tidbits about how Guardians will fit into the larger Marvel universe.
It appears as though, the orb Star-Lord is stealing in this clip, will be a McGuffin for Guardians, like the Teseract was for The Avengers. For those keeping score, this probably makes it an Infinity Gem being sought out by big bad Thanos. You know him, he was that big ugly guy from the credits of Avengers who also, according to Gunn:
"slaughtered [Gamora's] family and Nebula's, then raised them together as siblings. They were bio engineered to become living weapons, so he's really good at killing people."That's three connections to what I'm guessing will be Avengers 3's big villain. Do you think Star-Lord or Rocket will make an appearance in Manhattan?
X-Men Days of Future Past producer, Lauren Shuler Donner is talking about the next step in the X-Men franchise. They've already announced plans for X-Men: Apocalypse in 2016 and another Wolverine in 2017, but now they're finally continuing what all of comic fans had hoped since the first Wolverine standalone: X-Men Spinoffs.
"There was a regime [at the studio] that didn't see the worth in [spin-offs], and the current people who run Fox understand, embrace it, and we're going to do right by it... I'd like to do Gambit. I'd like to do Deadpool. We'll see. There's a lot of really great characters."While those are some great names, first on the docket might be Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique. She's one of the hottest commodities in Hollywood right now, and Mystique has always been a fan favorite (for two obvious reasons).
With the success of 2012's The Avengers, it feels like every studio with a superhero license is planning a team up movie. Sony's The Amazing Spider-Man franchise got one step closer with the announcement of a director for their Super-Villain team the Sinister Six.
With a rumored release in between Amazing Spider-Man 3 and 4, Sinister Six would be Spider-Man's biggest movie to date. In comic lore, the Sinister Six, lead by Doctor Octopus, plays out like Ramona Flowers' League of Evil Exes. Doc Ock recruits five other famous villains to take Spidey down once and for all.
The man set to direct is Whedon collaborator, Drew Goddard (The Cabin in The Woods). What do you think, what villains should be in the Sinister Six?
