History is a wild thing. In school it is taught in such a narrow way that totally bypasses the fact that these are stories of how we came to be who we are today. Every event, every battle, every celebration contributed to the cultures, traditions and inventions we have in our world today. And while along the way things came along that shocked and surprised the people of the past.

There are equally as many surprising things that happened in the past which seem unreal to us today, yet were a common part of life in that time period. Reflecting not only how much has changed, but that people of the past were not as timid as they might have been described to us. So get ready to blow the dust off the trapper keeper that you used to store your history notes in, because we have got more than a few fascinating facts to add to your high school collection.
