Remember last month when the rumor mill thought Chris Pine would be playing Steve Trevor in an upcoming Wonder Woman movie? Well, that may be a smoke screen to hide an even bigger announcement: Pine is the Green Lantern, Hal Jordan.
The full rumor is even crazier. Apparently, the Green Lantern Corps, which acts as an intergalactic police force, will be active on Earth when the first Justice League movie is released in 2017, and two Green Lanterns will be joining Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman in their fight. That's right, both classic Lanterns, Hal Jordan and John Stewart, will be active simultaneously in DC's movie universe.
Though famous for his role as James T. Kirk in the Star Trek reboot franchise, Chris Pine is apparently looking to expand his summer blockbuster resume by joining the DC Movie Universe as Steve Trevor, long-time romantic interest to Wonder Woman. Trevor has been rebooted and re-written several times through the history of the comic, but in his first incarnation, he was an Air Force pilot who crash landed on Paradise Island, exposing Diana and her crew of Amazon warriors.
The rumor mill can officially shut down production. Chris Pine is NOT playing Hal Jordan's Green Lantern in the DC universe. Instead, the Star Trek actor has signed on to a different DC franchise, Wonder Woman. Pine will be playing Steve Trevor, soldier and love interest to Wonder Woman's secret identity, Diana Prince.
Hopefully they can stay on good terms. We'd hate to see such a good looking couple fell apart.
