How Rezephos flew through Super Mario World without getting a single mushroom, fire flower, cape, star, or Yoshi...we may never know. There were some truly miraculous achievements at Summer Games Done Quick 2016 this year. These are some of our favorites:

Catherine

I don't understand this game, yet I find myself intrigued. Catherine's a puzzle-platformer for Xbox 360 and PS3. You play as a laid back dude named Vince Brooks who dates a lady named Katherine, only to end up falling into a love affair with a sex kitten named Catherine. See what they did there? Juggling two love interests almost always gives way to a full-fledgted sh*tstorm, but 'Ghoul02' upped the ante by playing through the game using two controllers at once.

Mario Kart: Double Dash!!

In this run, 'druvan7' gases up and destroys the All Cup Tour in speed demon fashion.

Check out the rest of the speedy playthrough achievements over here!

Shoutout to Red Medusa for the truly impressive work here! When you mix one of HBO's best series of all time with games like Super Mario Bros., Tetris, Mortal Kombat, and DOOM, beautiful things happen..

Ever get miserably stuck on a level while playing Super Mario Bros.? Well, the good news (if you could call it that) is that a team of computer scientists from MIT's Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Lab (CSAIL) just proved the game's levels are 'scientifically difficult to complete.'

Yes, the team said that solving a level in the game is 'as hard as the hardest problem in the complexity class PSPACE.'

What does this all mean?

Well, that completing a Super Mario Bros. level is more difficult than factoring large numbers or the Traveling Salesman Problem -- classic algorithmic problem often used by AI experts.

“The paper doesn’t attempt to establish that any of the levels in commercial versions of Super Mario Brothers are that hard, only that it’s possible to construct PSPACE-hard levels from the raw materials of the Super Mario world,” the team wrote.

Either way, pretty cool stuff going on here.
