Ronda Rousey has been campaigning to star in Marvel Studios' first female lead superhero movie, Captain Marvel, slated for release in 2018. Nerd icon and director Kevin Smith made his opinion known. In summary Smith believes, she looks tough, she is tough, give her a movie. Because all of Hulk Hogan's movies really panned out.

She does look pretty cool though.

Ronda Rousey is definitely a geek, her love of Pokemon and Dragonball Z is widely known, but can she take that geek cred to the movies? The MMA fighter has begun an internet fan campaign to play Marvel's first female superhero, Captain Marvel.

With Superman-like powers, Captain Marvel is set to become the most powerful Avenger yet, and big name actresses Charlize Theron and Emily Blunt are already rumored to be in playing the hero in her 2018 debut. Does Rousey have a shot?

Marvel has their schedule planned out well unto 2020. Joining the Avengers, Captain Marvel (The MCU's first female solo hero) will have her own film in 2018. She, along with Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man and Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange, will lead the Avengers in Phase 4.

Outside of the Inhumans, she is the only Marvel hero who has not been cast. Here are our favorites, and how their performances of the most powerful woman in the MCU would play out.

Director James Gunn took to Twitter to crush the rumors that Captain Marvel, or the symbiote race that created Venom in the Spider-Man comic books would appear in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy.

Sorry fanboys, you'll just have to wait for Guardians 3.
