The Russo Brothers, busy with press for the DVD release for Captain America: Civil War spoke a little bit about the matter with the Huffington Post:

“I think him dropping that shield is him letting go of that identity,” said Joe. “[It’s] him admitting that certainly, the identity of Captain America was in conflict with the very personal choice that he was making.”

So, what can we expect here-- a new redesigned shield for Steve Rogers during his upcoming stay in Wakanda? More Hydra developments? What do you guys think?

Now we've just gotta keep our fingers crossed that this game doesn't meet its untimely demise with one of those damned 'cease and desist' orders. Although, at this point no such thing has been passed along from Microsoft. We're rooting for you Installation 01!
